Economic Opportunity

HB 4645—sponsored by Delegates Householder, Criss, Barrett, and Bates—would improve government quality and good stewardship of taxpayer dollars by helping lawmakers examine the fiscal impacts of proposed legislation and the economic impacts of new and old regulations with a fiscal or economic impact greater than $1 million. Serving as legislative staff, the Office of Regulatory and Fiscal Affairs will serve as the first step for lawmakers to get independent and unbiased information on the potential effects of legislative proposals and rules by providing truly reliable estimates of their cost and impact on West Virginia’s economy and citizens.
